With the popularity of PDA, the Web page visiting of smart terminal equipment received more and more people's attention. It has become the bottleneck that the embedded browsers usually specific platform or the type.The mWebPortal platform designed with the manner of three-tier intelligent gateway construction provides the good ability to meet the extensive needs of different web applications visiting the web's complex service, while it is great effective to use the rectangular block of VLSI layout optimization algorithm for devising of screen space, and great improved for the ability of web display.The first chapter outlines the mainstream development of the embedded systems and analysis of the business and revenue mainstream browsers. It also discuss the technical status at home and abroad as well as the two issues of existence of the type bottleneck and page layout display. At last, it puts out the solution, background and research studies.The second chapter shows the architecture, main process and personality characteristics of mWebPortal based on the intelligent gateway by analyzing existing typical embedded browser's framework and shortcomings. At last it analysis the reason of web browsers using Windows CE as a platform environment.Chapter three presents the thesis of intelligent gateway architecture, and elaborates the design of screen module based on DOM and configurable filter module. Screening programs configurable intelligent gateway can do the self-adaptable screen and filter work to the different equipment capacity for web application, thus does the breakthrough on platform bottleneck of web visit.Chapter four presents the thesis of the browser architecture and the key functional module description, the page layout algorithm designing of content-based block and indexing technology. It also puts out the layout optimization algorithm using the rectangular block of VLSI, which enhances the screen space utilization to enhance the effective of display.Chapter five presents the class diagram of prototype system, the boot and configuration interface, different types of screening containers example, multi-user concurrency and caching performance tests. It also proves the gateway can be good meet the users' requirements and have excellent performance by using cache and configurable screening technology.At last, there is the summary of work and a noted that containing the existing deficiencies and future goals.
