This paper implements an object modeling method for relic exhibition. The principle of the existing 3D scanner is referenced by this paper. Using equipments of the existing 3D scanner, we can get sample images during 3D scanning. Using this object modeling system, we can get the reflectance of an object in 30 seconds. The output of this system is a reflectance table which is indexed by the colors of the object. This system can obtain an approving result. This paper collects a lot of information of object modeling technique, then analyses the requirement of the existing structured light 3D scanner and relic exhibition. With this information, this paper addresses a method which computes the coefficient of a common BRDF model to get the property of the surface. The basic of this research is to select an appropriate BRDF model. This paper collects several BRDF model, describe their formulations. These models have their own application. The paper analyses the requirements of relic exhibiting, then select the Blinn model which accords with the requirements.Next, this paper addresses the method for computing the coefficient of the Blinn model, including how to get the rang image, how to get the diffuse coefficient and how to get the specular coefficient. The difficulty is how to get the specular proportion. The key is to use a rotating device to get the sample. Then we need to get the correspondence between the point in the space and the point on the photo. The formulations are addressed in this paper. At the end of this paper, we show some reconstructed results of different materials.
