Research And Development Of The Demand Forecasting System In The Inventory Management

Inventory management is always the focus of enterprise management. It directly affects the production and sale, and it is concerned to the benefits of enterprises. The study of demand forecasting system can improve the scientific level of inventory management and the benefits of enterprises. As a result, the process of developing demand forecasting system is discussed in this thesis.Firstly, the concept of inventory management and its important role in the production and sale of enterprises are introduced. After that, the concept, basic principle, classification and step of forecasting are introduced, and the relation between inventory management and forecasting is pointed.After understanding the important role of forecasting for inventory management, we put forward and design the demand forecasting system. The system is an exploration which makes forecasting intelligent, and improves automatic degree of forecasting. It consists of five modules, which are modules about logging in system, merchandise information, storing and inputting data, choosing forecasting model and outputting forecasting result. Following this, databases used in the system are designed, and we use three kinds of databases which are the information database of forecasting objects, the database of forecasting models and the database of storing forecasting result. After that, the realizations of forecasting methods used in the system are studied, and the criterion about choosing the best forecasting model is put forward. When realizing these methods we use the component technology of .NET. At last, according to three representative forecasting examples, we analyze forecasting results and provide outputting results of the system, then the validity and practicability of the system is explained.In the conclusion part, the main result of the thesis is summarized and some problems for further research are analyzed.
