Coordinated control system of stream turbo-generator unit is a typical system which has some characters such as nonlinear, time-varying parameters, large delay and severe coupling. The traditional control strategy is difficult to satisfy with the request of the electric network on control performance. The paper has summarized the typical models of stream turbo-generator unit. In view of the current nonlinear model of boiler-turbine coordinate system, the paper has designed a synthetically nonlinear controller based on backstepping, which has introduced some dummy variables and structured Lyapunov function of error variance gradually. This controller not only ensures the stability of system but also makes the tracking error concentrate to zero, and the dynamic performance is well. Aiming at the unknown time constants, the adaptive law is designed and the simulation is taken on Simulink. At last, the controller is applied on the STAR-90. The result has shown the controller based on backstepping has theory meaning and project practical value.
