This paper mainly deals with the applications of adaptive control in two practical systems. It includes four parts and is arranged according to the following sequence:First: ProlegomenonThe first part briefly introduced adaptive control development, and then give an overview of the backstepping control, the fuzzy control and the chaos control.Second: Adaptive fuzzy-backstepping control for inverted pendulum systemFor a inverted pendulum system, by the approximation property of fuzzy systems and backstepping design approach, the design of a adaptive fuzzy backstepping control is given in this part. The singular problem is avoided by using integral Lyapunov function. It is proved that all the signals in the closed-loop system are global uniformly bounded. In a simulation example, a comparison between the controller with some fuzzy rules and the one without any fuzzy rule is given. When the controller uses fuzzy rules, the performance improved markedly.Third: Adaptive backstepping control for nonlinear oscillatorThe problem of adaptive backstepping control for the nonlinear oscillator is considered in this part. By using the adaptive backstepping approach, the non-periodic oscillating signal is transformed into the periodic one, global stability of the closed-loop system is guaranteed. Meanwhile, the output of the nonlinear oscillator asymptotically tracks an arbitrarily given reference signal. The effectiveness of the approach is demonstrated by simulation results.Fourth: ConclusionThis part provides a summary of the paper, and give a specification to the drawback and some point that should be improved in this paper.
