Fiber pulling machine plays an important role in fiber produce. The control result of pulling servo motor is an important point which affects the quality of fiber. Fuzzy control system based on MCU has been designed to get satisfying control results. The question of time delay in control system has been analyzed in theory. And fuzzy control algorithm based on the Smith predicator has been designed to resolve the problem of time delay. Four contents are mainly included as follows:First, on the basis of the analysis of fiber pulling machine's working principle, the fiber pulling machine servo system and the fiber diameter measurement part have been designed and developed. At the same time, the type of pulling servo machine has been selected and the control algorithm has been decided.Second, according to the workers'experience and fuzzy control theory, the fuzzy control algorithm of fiber pulling machine has been designed and also has been applied in the fiber pulling machine control system. In order to realize the algorithm, the calculation process has been divided into two parts which include on-line part and off-line part. On the off-line part, fuzzy query table has been calculated by using MATLAB. On the on-line part, the fuzzy control has been realized by looking up the fuzzy query table.Third, fuzzy control system based on MCU has been designed in order to realize the close loop control of fiber pulling machine. Fiber diameter real-time acquisition and data processing have been made experimentally. The hardware and software of the fuzzy control system have been designed and put into use successfully. By using the fuzzy control system, the automation of fiber manufacture has been realized and the satisfying control result has been gotten.Forth, the problem of time delay in the fiber pulling control system has been analyzed in theory, which points out that the system stability and the control result will be affected by the problem of time delay. In order to resolve the problem of time delay, the fuzzy control algorithm based on Smith predicator has been designed. The simulation experiment of the fuzzy control algorithm based on Smith predicator and the simple fuzzy control algorithm has been carried out. The former experiment result is better than the latter, which can be demonstrated by the simulation experiment.
