Based on discrete wavelet transform, JPEG2000 picture coding standard provides excellent image compression performance in terms of the rate-distortion tradeoff performance and visibility of coding artifacts. However, the lossless compression still suffer from various compression artifacts,including ringing artifacts, blur, tiling artifacts and flickers. In low bit rate application or high definition player system such as digital cinema, coding artifacts will be very annoying.Post processing methods for JPEG2000 code stream at decoder end help to improve the visual quality of reconstructed images without introducing modification to JPEG2000 codec. Thus, it provides good compatibility to existing code streams and codec.The paper discusses post processing techniques in the space and temporal domain.
