The 70% of the human's information changing is passed by vision information, and the image information is a very important media for information changing. But in real life, people can not always get image bright and good enough because they get images at poor light conditions. These images contain some scenes which can not be identified, so image enhance process is very necessary. For digital image processing area, the most commonly used method is image enhancement and restoration to improve the quality of the image. For image enhancement, some information of the image is enhancement based on the requirement; meanwhile remove the information that we do not need. The main goal for this enhancement process is to make the image processed more suitable for the special use. That is to say, the output image is more suitable for human's vision feather or for the machine recognition system.The tradition image enhancement method deal with gray-level image mostly, and people need to set the parameter interactively in order to get a good enhancement effect for certain kind of images and for certain use of the images. However, because image is increasingly used in many fields, the image enhancement algorithms should be able to process different kinds of image adaptively and automatically; what's more, the algorithms should be able to enhance the edge, contrast and illumination at the same time. In such a case, the research of adaptive image enhancement algorithm has become more and more important.In image processing area the using of color is very important for two reasons. First, in automatic image analysis area the color information is a very important tool to identify the object; it usually can be identified and subtracted from a scene easily. Second, when human analysis the images, the human's eyes can only identify about 20 kinds of different gray level, but human can identify more than 1000 different colors.Human Vision system is the world's best image processing system.
