This thesis presents a novel model for the P2P E-commerce systems by analyzing the features of the E-commerce and applying the P2P technologies to practice. On one hand, compared with the C/S E-commerce systems, the P2P E-commerce systems excel in many aspects such as their flexibility, expandability, robustness and low costs. On the other hand, the Gnutella is a decentralized unstructured P2P network. Compared with the other kinds of P2P topologies, the merits of the Gnutella network include the following aspects: high fault-tolerant capacity, good support to complex queries, and little impact can be reflected to the whole network if peers in the network log in or out. Improvement measures on the search strategy and the mechanisms on diminishing the bandwidth consumption have been extensively studied. Thus, a bright future for the research on Gnutella applications is predictable. This thesis mainly discusses the P2P E-commerce model based on Gnutella. Comparisons and analyses on the related research fields are made in depth and the typical commercial cases worldwide are carefully studied. After that, we discuss the application mechanisms of the P2P E-commerce systems. The general design and methods for each functional module are proposed and XML is introduced as the data description and exchange language of the peer information.
