In the digital video signal processing, the technology of video moving object detection is very important. It is widely used both in military and industry. It has great significance for realizing the stable and fast moving object detection system.The dissertation has introduced the design methods and the realized schemes of software and hardware of video moving object detecting system based on FPGA. In this paper, the classification and character of video signal are introduced firstly, based on these, the paper analyses the basic principles of three main detection algorithms of moving object, and discusses advantages and disadvantages of them. Then, detailed scheme of designing hardware of moving object detection system is proposed, it provides a steady and feasible hardware platform for the implementation of this system. Finally, the process of hardware implementation of this system based on FPGA is presented in detail.In this paper through analyzing the technologies of moving object detection, an improved frame-difference method is adopted, with the task of this system, a real-time motion detection system is developed based on CYCLONE FPGA finally. Using FPGA to realize system design will improve the speed of system, it also has such advantages as flexibility and adaptability. It is verified by the working of the monitor that the system can detect the moving object from video sequence well, and has a good anti-jamming ability.
