The development and application of medical imaging equipments makes anatomic structure of human can be acquired non-invasively, which greatly promots the development of iatrology. But what they can acquire are slice images of human, from which relative space position relations between tissues are not easy to get for users. Yet, tissues and pathological parts of the human body can be reconstructed and showed in three-dimensional form by visualization technology, which can provide more useful information for clinicians. Therefore, research of visualization technology applied to medical images is of great significance. In this thesis, some algorithms in the visualization technology of medical images are systematically investigated in-depth. Firstly, based on the research of Marching Cubes surface rendering algorithm, a multi-surface rendering algorithm is presented, and based on which, the function of plane clipping is implemented. Then, the transplant of Pre-Integrated Volume Rendering algorithm is studied, and an implementation of this algorithm based on OpenGL ATI extension is presented which can solve the problem that the previous Pre-Integrated volume rendering algorithm can not run on the platform with ATI graphics card installed and without Windows operating system. The function of clipping in arbitrary forms based on our approach is also implemented. Finally, a software composed of several typical reconstruction algorithms and the slice display systemof DICOM images is implemented, in which the parameters and transfer functions of every algorithm can be modulated alternately. The developed package has much more practicability and expansiability.
