The focus of component-based software reuse includes how to obtain components, how to manage components, and how to enhance the efficiency of component search. The paper took the application of water resources domain as the background, combined with the domain engineering, and then we analyzed the methods of component extraction and classification and search in existing software systems, and discussed the method and process of domain component extraction. The main contents as follows:1. After analyzing the current extraction technologies of reusable components as well as methods of component classification and search, the paper discussed the methods of component identification and metric, emphasized the characteristics and adaptability of two kinds of component identification based on structural analysis and knowledge matching, as well as basic technologies of component metric which identified and verified component.2. Combining with domain characteristic, the paper discussed the method and process of the domain component extraction which is from object-oriented systems in specific domain. After analyzing the existing identification algorithms, the paper proposed Iterative analysis algorithms based on the Directed weighted graph for Domain Component Identification(IADCI); and presented the main factors of influencing domain component extraction based on the QMOOD; then the paper discussed the search model of domain component based on XML facet classification pattern.3. Applying the technology of domain component extraction, and combining with practical systems in water resources domain, the paper implemented the extraction of Water Information Query Component; meanwhile, the paper adopted facet classification pattern and gave XML-based description examples in water resources domain and corresponding search algorithm.
