Skin erythema is one of common and frequently-occurring skin diseases. Its color and shape will change when some skin disease come into being. Traditional observation way, which is easily influenced by the environment and the observers' experience, is not really objective. [YL1]So it is necessary to develop a new survey way to measure objectively the change of color and shape in skin erythema.The digital imaging method to be used to measure the skin color and shape, which involves the imaging and images process knowledge, is a new research field in dermatology. Its advantages are noncontact and measuring simultaneously the color and shape.The following two aspects are studied about skin erythema digital images in this paper: one is the quantification of skin erythema color; another is the shape measurement of skin erythema. A parameter of color quantification e( s + v)2h is proposed in this paper by studying the h,s,v under variational illumination, which not only can quantify the color of erythema, but also can minish the influence of illumination. Then we study mostly the reducing dimension segmentation and a reducing dimension parameter applied in skin erythema color images is proposed in this paper. The segmentation result showed that utilizing the feature parameter could improve segmentation speed and segmentation effect.The paper includes the following parts: in the first, the feature of human skin and several common color space are introduced, and the hue Coordinates translation is put forward; then the design and calibration of digital images capturing system are introduced; the third part introduces the selection of quantification parameters in skin color; the last chapter is the reducing dimension segmentation of skin erythema color images on the basis of color.
