With the rapid development of the economic society and the continued expand of enterprises, they are right to respond to the request that the system of the business demand has been proposed higher too. Such a system should not only be able to keep pace with the rapid expansion of the growing business needs and the dramatic increase in the number of users, but also to cut costs and scale down when the inadequate usage of the systems. This system is the scalable system's characteristics. The arrival of the .NET facilitate and speed up the development of application systems, but little attentions on the scalability of .NET platform. This paper will discuss .NET platform's scalability and how to create a scalable system on .NET platform. The paper will discuss on the following aspects:(1) Introduces the specific meaning of scalability and the relevant concept to it, and to explain why the scalability is very important to enterprises.(2)Introduction the cluster's technology, and it is how to improve the scalability. Meanwhile, load balancing technology issues in cluster technology is discussed. Then illustrated what principles we should followed in the process of designing scalability systems. Finally, give some simple explanation of the system scalability measurement method.(3) Detailed analysis and comparison are given on two current mainstream development's platform, and the scalability of their structures and how to choose them in the development process is given also.(4) Focusing on the study of how to build a scalable system based on .NET platform .In the database design, using a standardized theory and storage process to improve scalability. After establishing a solid database, the Data Access Layer will use ADO.NET, and other functions to improve performance, and to improve scalability; In Business Layer will use Web Service and message queue to enhance scalability; In UI Layer, mainly use ASP.NET caching technology to further enhance the system's scalability.(5)Through the development and deployment of an enterprise-level office automation system, to specific illustrate how to build a scalable system on .NET platform. These include the overall planning, detailed design and simple test.(6)Finally, Carried on some simple summarizes and prospect in this paper, and gives some problems which should study to be solved in the future.
