With the high speed development of Internet technology and computing technology, applications and users in the Internet appear new characters, end-system user's computing ability in according with the need of application have changed, especially the service of multimedia, for example streaming media, video conference, and vod are becoming more and more widely used. This type of application have some common communicate characters of one to one or more to more, at the same time, network is asked for to provide QOS restrictions. At present, the service model of IP multicast and protocol have some deficiency which make it not be widely applied in the Internet. Under this condition, people change their research work to how to as far as use the computing resource of end-user's system in the Internet, and try to realize application layer multicast.Application layer multicast changes multicast function from routers to end-systems. End-system is to be used to realize all communicate functions of multicast group, for example, the construction of multicast tree, copy and distribute of data packet and so on. In this way, it disposes the bundle of depending on routers which traditional IP multicast must be need, computing resource are fully excavated and all kinds of functions can be added flexibly.This paper mainly studies irreciprocal application layer multicast system facing single source streaming media. Firstly, on the analyze of all kinds of application layer multicast protocols which have been proposed , a mended protocol is to bring forward ,also we analyze it by simulation. Secondly, archetypal system are designed based on this new protocol. In this system, we realize the construction of multicast group, join and leave multicast group and the dispose of node failure. At last, we test the performance of this system in LAN. The idiographic task include:(1) I have read plenty of literature about application layer multicast ,analyzing its advance compare to traditional IP multicast,at the same time studied application layer multicast protocol and infrastructure that have been proposed, concluded and sum up their character and problem.(2) Based on this ,proposed a mended application layer multicast protocol that can be used to solve irreciprocal application layer multicast system facing single source streaming media-SSALMP. It mainly solved how per-join node find best parent node at different bandwidth circumastence.(3) Simulating this protocol and comparing to proposed protocol,explaing its advance.(4) Realizing archetypal system based on this protocol,especially proposed message priority method that can increase the system's response time.(5) Testing the archetypal system in LAN,mainly include multicast group constructed, multicast group join and leave and node failure disposal. Testing results indicate it achive the design request.
