With the continuous investment in design and manufacture of the IC (integrated circuit) industry and with the advanced improvement of the EDA tools, the skill of IC design in China has been distinctively increased.Several CPUs imerge with their own IP (intellectual property) rights, such as Godson. After some trials and errors, our lab, the ASIC center designed the SoC chip named Garfield based on ARM7TDMI core. The simulation results showed that the chip totally achieved the design purpose. Then how to widely implement, deploy the chip and how to verify the performance, reliability of the chip in the application and practice become two key points to the success of the chip.We know by investigation that the bank-card trade plays a more and more important role with the increasing bank services. At the same time, the demand for the bank self-service machine grows steadily. So it becomes urgent to supply the bank self-service with secure, reliable and low price terminals based on the internet. The article is to design a bank self-service machine named STOI (Secured Terminal Over Internet), which makes use of the SoC chip (Garfield) with its own IP right, uClinux and TCP/IP. To design and apply the terminal has very important meaning, not only in extending and verifying the design and manufacturing technology of the chip with its own IP right, but also in improving the environment of the magcard. The key technologies of the implementation of the STOI include: the porting of the uClinux on Garfield; the designing of drivers for different devices on uClinux; the realization of the STOI's network function based on TCP/IP; the accomplishment of the security and reliability of the STOI. The main work of the article is: to define the function of the STOI and to design the system solution; to design the schematic document of the STOI with protel; to port the uClinux on Garfield; to code different device drivers of the STOI and the TCP/IP protocol; to accomplish the security of the STOI; to develop the application program under the B/S(Browser/Server) construction with the STOI acting as the Browser and the bank tading system acting as the server; to test the STOI under the environment of virtual trading system supplied by the bank. After efforts over one year, the STOI has passed the simulation test under the bank Environment. It enables the user to conduct full services, such as account transfer, public fee collection with Electronic cash, mobile payment, duty, Banking & Securities Money Transfer, shopping, etc. The product has advantage in improving the environment of using cards, increasing the utilization of the magnetic card and enhancing the service and competition of the bank. The"Garfield"chip designed by the ASIC Center worked perfectly in the process of the STOI's accomplishment and test. It proves that the chip can satisfy the requirement in practical application with rich interfaces, excellent performance, low consumption, reliable performance.
