In recent years more and more attention has been paid to the research and development of WSNs (wireless sensor networks). All over the world there are lots of researchers devoting themselves to this work. Of course WSNs have also shown its wide foregrounds and benefits to people. WSNs can operate very well in military, civilian and scientific fields. Because the WSNs'nodes have the constraints, such as low energy, little memory, low ability of computing, WSNs have the unique characteristics, which are different from the traditional wireless communication networks. Obviously there should be new routing algorithms for WSNs. In the design of WSNs'routing algorithms, the efficient utility of the limited resources, especially the high efficiency of the low energy, should be put into considerations first, which is not essential in the design of the traditional routing algorithms who consider first the quality of services. We try to design a routing algorithm for WSNs on the point of energy conserving with UWB location technology. Firstly, we simulate and analyse the existing WSNs'routing algorithms using OPNET and Matlab, through which the different choice criterions in the process of selecting the next hop: the depleted energy during the data transferring and the residual energy of the node show their influences and impacts on the network performances. Then we propose the new MAM (Minimum-distance And Maximum-residual-energy) routing algorithm including a new rule function, whose improvements of simulation is at the same time proved through the simulation. Since the WSNs'nodes can't acquire the global information, they only depend on the local information on the routing selective. So it is very important for the WSNs'routing algorithms to how to use the local information. Based on this idea, we make some adaptive improvements on MAM routing algorithm and also get the expecting results which are proved through simulations. At last we make some qualitative discussions about extending the more items in the rule function.
