With the development of science and technology, equipment in modern industry becomes more large-sized, heave-load, high-speed and more automated. On the one hand, the production efficiency is improved and the production cost is reduced, on the other hand, more requirements are requested for the equipment, once the equipment breaks down, it will cause huge loss. It's a precondition to improve the safety and reliability of the equipment, and to ensure the production continuity as enterprises pursue high economic benefit. Therefore, fault diagnosis technique of the equipment becomes a hot scientific research field.In this paper, fault diagnosis of rotating machinery is studied. Most traditional rotating machinery fault diagnosis method is to use single sensor techniques, the information sources are not abundant, and the fault diagnostic rate is very low, which always lead to fault untrue report or missing report, and can not meet the demand of modern industrial production. In view of this, the application of multi-sensor information fusion in rotating machinery is studied. Use several sensors capture all kinds of information form multi divisions, conduct information fusion in accordance with certain algorithm, at last, judge the fault pattern according to certain decision rules. The study result shows that multi-sensor information fusion technique is a feasible and effective method in rotating machinery fault diagnosis.Started form the reality of industrial field, and the necessities and feasibility of conducting research on rotating machinery fault diagnosis are pointed out; currently used fault diagnosis methods and their defects are analyzed, and then, the application of multi-sensor information fusion based on D-S evidence theory in rotating machinery is studied; at last, the structure and designing flow of portable rotating machinery fault diagnosis instrument is presented from both hardware and software.The fault diagnosis instrument is mainly composed of data acquisition unit, digital signal processor (DSP), and liquid crystal display (LCD) module. Analog signals captured by sensors should be, at first, adjusted by the adjustment circuit, and then after A/D convert, proceeded in DSP, the data and waveform proceeded is directly displayed on LCD. DSP adopts TMS320VC5402 of TI (Texas instrument); LCD adopts OCMJ4x8C of Golden Palm Electronics Co., Ltd.
