Research On The Propagation Model Of Network Worm And Its Application

The progress of information technology brings the rapid development of the Internet. Internet connects millions of computers and provides a virtual highway for information delivery. However, it also becomes a place where network worms spread. Most network worms are developed by taking advantage of the vulnerability of operating system or applications. With the Internet as the medium, the spread of network worms usually not only consumes considerable network resources but also indirectly leads to much loss of society and economy cost.In this paper, we made a detailed review of the history of worm development, and based on the analysis of some worm cases broken out, we explained and described how worm works, the structure of worm entity and the architecture of worm performance, so and two kinds of functional structure of worm.We've also made a full-scale explanation of some worm defense algorism in common use in network, for some key parts, we detailedly analyzed the process of its execution, and compared them based on out experiments results.Then, we analyzed the worm propagation model, considered multiple effect and effect duration, which are tow factors concerns with worm propagation model, we came out with the effect of worm propagation model according to its response time span and a improved propagation model SIRS based on two-factor model. According to the propagation simulation of Code Red and SQL Slammer using our models, we found that compare our model with the existed ones, our models works better in description of modern worm propagation processing.After that, we pointed out some suggestions for further research in this area.
