The demands of all variety of portal application are increasing with increase of commercial application of IT system. And portal application is becoming more and more sophisticated. It needs more complex technology to be finished, for Portals, it needs to authenticate users to back-end data sources and applications, yet these applications may have different security infrastructures. In general, a coherent authentication strategy or a solid authentication framework is missing. A user needs to remember multiple usernames and passwords to access different applications on a network. This poses a huge cost for the administration and support departments—accounts must be set up in each application for each employee, users forget their passwords, and so on. Single Sign-On (SSO) can resolve the problem well. It provides a unified mechanism to manage the authentication of users and implement simple portals for user access to application and data. The objective of SSO is to allow users access to the authoritative applications from one logon. It improves user productivity.
