Nowadays, Web becomes the main information resource. However, it is not easy for people to get the really interested information on the web, since web pages are semi-structure or non-structure, the hyperlinks are disordered and the data are massive and dynamic. To solve the above difficulties, Tim Berners-Lee proposed the concept of Semantic Web in 2000. It is an extension of the current web in which information is given well-defined meaning, better enabling computers and people to work in cooperation. The Semantic Web uses a multi-level framework to achieve its goal. Ontology locates in the level from textual description to knowledge-based reasoning. So it is the key to ontologies for the Semantic Web and it is also the research hotspot in China and overseas. This paper introduces the hiberarchy and the key technique of Semantic Web, analyzes the deficiencies of the traditional Web in the information retrieve, makes a deep research on the concepts of ontology, description language of ontology, methods of building ontology and the tools of building ontology, furthermore, proposes evolution prototype method based on ontology to guide the building of ontology.Building ontologies is a very important issue, at present, there is no any mature methodology to guide the development of ontologies. Evolution prototype method cover the shortages of the actual methods of building domain ontology, reduces the participation of domain experts, shortens the time of building domain ontology, makes the process of building domain ontology more canonical, pays more attention to evolution of domain ontology. This paper builds a domain ontology of computer courses under the guidance of evolution prototype method, which adopts OWL recommended by W3C as the ontology language, uses Protégé3.0 to write ontology file and to store ontology utilizing the method of triples, proposes to use partial index in the method of triples storage for improving retrieve efficiency. Also evaluates the...
