An in-depth theoretical and simulating study on composite achromatic wave-plate is presented in this paper. First, the basic principles of compound achromatic wave-plate is described, author has developed a systematic optimum design method for achromatic wave-plate, which is based on assumption of ideal condition in which there are no temperature shifting, no dimensional tolerance, and no optical loss. On the basis of analyzing the influences of mean fast axis dispersion on the performance of achromatic wave-plate, author sets up a double-objectives optimization model. A design method for achromatic wave-plate by the aid of the Genetic Algorithm (GA) is proposed for the first time. With those method achromatic circular polarizer and polarization rotator are designed.In this dissertation, Monte Carlo tolerance analysis technology is introduced, author has analyzed the influence of machining errors on the performance of achromatic wave-plate and brings forward a reasonable scheme of tolerance allocation.As a powerful design and analysis tool, during the study process, author developed a computing platform used for the design, analysis and simulation of achromatic wave-plate. Lastly, an experiment scheme as a design result based on this platform is described.In the last chapter of this dissertation, author will review the whole study process and give some personal viewpoints and considerations for the developing perspectives of composite achromatic wave-plate and problems existing in the recent step.
