Research And Application Of The Optical Fiber Testing System

The Optical Fiber Testing System (OFTS) development is very important for maintaining and managing the fiber optic network. OFTS can greatly improve management efficiency and maintain quality. OFTS is an optical fiber network testing system that integrates current matured technologies including computer, communication, geographical information system (GIS) and optical fiber measuring technology. It mainly solves the optical fiber management problem because of broadening optical fiber communication system and enlarging network. The system aims at transforming the old passive management to new automatic and real-time warning one. And it has some useful information management functions.Starting with fiber optic transmission mechanism and optical fiber monitor technology, taking network communication as carrier and GIS as instrumentality, this paper particularly discusses and researches module component and function realization of the OFTS.Firstly, the paper introduces the background and significance of this project and the development status of OFTS both inland and overseas. Then it introduces some relative technologies such as GIS, testing methods and so on. It also discusses the concept of GIS+GPS deeply and explains the principle of network software development using the Windows Socket that pushes alarm event basing on Csocket. Then it carries on the concrete introduction and explanation, taking the system in Heilongjiang Province application as an example.Lastly the conclusion of the paper and prospect of the research is given.
