As a kind of popular process tomography technique, Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT) technique has been developed in recent years. It has great developmental potential and wide application prospect in solving multi-phase flow. Based on sensing mechanisms process tomography technique, ECT technique has particular advantages such as non-invade, high speed of response, wide application range and so on. In the research, one of the most important technologies is the reconstruction with real-time, rapid and high precision image to adapt practice application in industry, such as petroleum, chemical engineering and pharmacy.Based on distributed technique, grid computing following World Wide Web is more complex than traditional distributed system. Collaborated with distributed computer organizations, it can solve scientific and engineering problems. At present in processing and solving of electrical capacitance tomography, there are some deficiencies in the real-time image reconstruction. Therefore, in this paper, image reconstruction in grid computing environment is supported, which can meet the users'real-time demand of ECT system.The main study content and fruit is listed as follows:1. Existent problems of image reconstructionThe current status of ECT image reconstruction technique and the development of grid computing are introduced.2. Advantage of grid computing in image reconstructionThe advantage of powerful computing ability in grid computing is studied, and the feasibility of solving problem with the grid computing technique is analyzed.
