Nowadays, ASP.NET Web Applications are widely used and Linux becomes more and more popular. The paper migrates ASP.NET Web Applications from Windows to Linux, which will not only provide a new way of deploying such ASP.NET Web Applications, but also further push forward the application of Linux. The paper explores an approach to migrating ASP.NET Web Applications to Linux, which based on an open source project on Linux-Mono.Firstly, Microsoft.NET and Mono are introduced summarily. Then the process of building up the migration platform is described in detail. Secondly, the handling mechanism of ASP.NET programs is analyzed at length. A comparatively complete summary of the migration matters is also given in the paper. Thirdly, the way of migrating by hand is described according to the sequence of common function, high function and special function. Some typical problems are analyzed and the solution is brought forward. Fourthly, the design and implementation of migration assistant tools is explained. These assistant tools will raise the migration's efficiency and accuracy greatly. Finally, the implementation of migrating the whole Enterprise Fund Flow Management System is illuminated, which can show the validity and practicability of the migration approach. And the specific steps of carrying it out are also given.The paper establishes an overall scheme basically which migrates ASP.NET Web Applications fi-om Microsoft.NET platforms to Mono platforms. It puts forward suggestion and amendment ideas for the Mono framework's improvement. Moreover, it will play an important role in the open source software's universality and the Linux applications' diversification.
