With the rapid developing of digital technology, the application of digital image and digital video is emerging in our daily life. From the network image with low resolution to digital movie with high resolution, from the application of mobile terminal with low rate to the application of HDTV and DVD with high rate, all of the above has extremely relationship with the development of digital image technology and information theory. One of the key technology of digital image is the compression coding of the image.The method of video compression system with 3D wavelet transform has great future in the current popular field of video transmission, and more and more people begin to focus on the research on it. At present, the implementation of the method is still in the beginning stage. The support of the method in the Internet application and kinds of digialised device is relatively not so much. So research on the method will have a well significance of both thoery and practice applications in this background.The 3D wavelet coding with motion compensation is doing wavelet resolution along with the motion contrail in the time field. It highly reduces the energy of the high frequency subband and decreases the coefficient of the low frequency subband in the time field. As a result, it improves the efficiency of the compression coding.The present thesis mainly research on the algorithm and implementation scheme of the 3D wavelet-based video coding.
