The next-generation network (NGN) is a service-driven network.Softswitch is an important entity of NGN. Softswitch implements two crucial separations—the separation between service control and call control, and the separation between call control and connection control. The goal of NGN is to construct an aggregation network which could provide service on voice, data, and multimedia and so on. In order to realize the aim, IETF and ITU-T had established a series of standard protocols, such as H.248/Megaco, SIP, BICC, Sigtran, H.323. And Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is one of the most important parts of NGN. It indicates the current of IP phone developing to commercial phone, providing subscribers with greater functions. The development of SIP is to help providing super phone services spanning the internet.
