The external small signal amplification ability of the Bragg acoustooptic bistable system has been studied in this paper: The behavior of High Frequency(HF) frequency spectrum, period-doubling bifurcation and the phenomenon frequency locking have been analyzed according to the difference-differential equation of the Bragg acoustooptic bistable system. The effects of external factor and inherent noise on stability of the system have been studied. The numerical evaluation about bistable characteristic and bifurcation behavior have been worked out. In the experiment, small amplification has been observed near the onset of a period-doubling bifurcation. It has been proven by experiment that there are saturation and resonance phenomena in the amplification. Bifurcation parameters at the bifurcation points are decreased by external small signals. Frequency response characteristic and amplitude response characteristic have been measured. Finally, the influencing factors on chaos, bifurcation and magnification times have been studied. The modulation effect haven't been obversed in the stability region in our experiment.
