Medicine Imaging Processing is a medicine specific application in the Digital Image Processing technology, and it has been already regarded and applied in all over the world. Urinary sediment microscopic inspecting is an important method in clinical inspection. This paper discusses segmentation method of the watershed algorithm for the visible components of the urine sediment in theory and practice. And we have obtained good effective segmentation such as RBC (Red Blood Cell) and WBC(White Blood Cell). The experiment shows that the result of segmentation is consistent with the visibility, and its segmentation speed and the repeatability has already met the medicine clinical requirements.This paper is divided into 5 parts. The first part introduces the background and research significance of the subject; The second part is the system design of hardware and software; The third part has discussed the pretreatment method of urine sediment detailedly, including the gray-scale transformation and some methods of smoothing and sharpening for urine sediment image; The fourth part introduces the main principle of various kinds of image segmentation algorithm and the comparison and sum-up for them; The fifth part has studied the application of watershed algorithm in the image segmentation emphatically; Finally, the experimental result proves the contribution of watershed algorithm to urine sediment image segmentation.
