Building And Operating The Semantic Link Network

Semantic Link Network SLN is a semantic web model using semantic links ? the natural extension of the hyperlinks of the current Web. The Semantic Link Network Builder named SLN-Builder is a software tool that enables definition, modification, verification and access of the SLN. The SLN-Builder can convert an SLN definition into XML descriptions for cross-platform information exchange. The Intelligent Semantic Browser can browse the SLN and carry out two types of reasoning: small granularity reasoning by chaining semantic links and large granularity reasoning by matching semantic views of an SLN. With the help of the reasoning mechanism, the browser can recommend the content that is semantically relevant to the current browsing content and enables the user to foresee the end-side content of a semantic link chain. The SLN-based operations include union, intersection, and subtraction. Based on these operations, this paper also presents corresponding operation algorithms. For a given SLN pair, this paper presents an algorithm to determine the semantic relationship (i.e. similar-to, cause-effective) that may exist between the two SLNs.
