Video transmission based on the Bluetooth wireless Ad-hoc network is a brand-new topic, but providing video services in the Bluetooth wireless Ad-hoc networks is particularly challenging as (i) the heterogeneous client processing and display capabilities, (ii) wireless connections typically suffer from bandwidth variability and transmission errors, and (iii) the network topology structure is changeable. Usually, multiple description coding (MDC) and layered coding (LC) are two effective source-coding approaches proposed aim to address the video transmission via Bluetooth Ad-hoc network. But in the different network environment, these two schemes have their advantages and certain limitation individually. Their different characteristic urges us to seek a kind of union code method which combines their advantages.In this paper, via deeply studying the Bluetooth technology and error control coding method of the wireless video communication, first of all proposed a kind of short distance wireless video transmission scheme based on Bluetooth and MPEG4 video standard, analyzed the system performance of video communication in Bluetooth wireless Ad-hoc network, and presented a treatment of enhancing system performance under co-channel interference and make aid-computer simulation, which can provide certain reference for using the Bluetooth technology to transmit video.Next, according to characteristic of Bluetooth Ad-hoc wireless network, proposed a novel union coded scheme which is suitable to Bluetooth network, that is multiple description layered coding. Through constructing the Bluetooth Ad-hoc network model and analyzing its characteristic, we design an effective multiple path transport strategy for MDLC video coded stream. The result of simulation test and analysis show that the proposed scheme has good channel self-adaptability and error control performance.Realization wireless video communication of short distance by utilizing the Bluetooth technology has been increasingly paid attention by the academic circle and industry circle; this paper has the special reference value for realizing reliable video transmission in the Bluetooth wireless Ad-hoc network environment.
