Laser diode array (LDA) has many merits such as small volume, light weight, low cost, high photoelectric efficiency, high output of power and long life time. At present, LDA has been widely used in the fields of industry, medicine and science. However the relatively poor spatial property of LDA's output limits its applications in many fields. The method of external phase-locking via an external cavity can greatly improve the output property of the LDA. It is especially suitable for wide-aperture LDA. The application of the technology is promising.A fundamental Gauss beam model had been adopted to analyze LDA's coupling coefficient arising from fundamental lateral mode between emitters. But with increase of the distance among emitters and the broading of emittering areas, the output light of wide-aperture, high-power LDA supports not only fundamental lateral mode but also high-order lateral modes. In this thesis, detailed calculation and analysis have been made on the coupling coefficients arising from fundamental lateral mode and high-order lateral modes between emitters of wide-aperture, high-power LDA. The results show that: All coupling coefficients arising from different lateral modes follow similar variation patterns along with the change of external cavity (EC) length. But the magnitude and location of the maximum coupling coefficient are not same. For coupling coefficients of different grades arising from the same orders' lateral mode, the maximum value...
