High frequency ground-wave over-the horizon radar (OTH) works on the short-wave band. In order to hold the performance of the antenna array of HF radar the length of antenna array is also very long. In this thesis, our work is focused on analyzing the effects of mutual coupling between elements of the thin dipole antenna array. The effects of mutual coupling on the antennas pattern synthesis and the amplitude-phase consistency of the input impedance of the uniformly-space liner array are presented. A new method that used the mutual coupling to synthesize the pattern is been given. Finally, we put forward a method to compensate the amplitude and phase of the input.MOM is an effective method to analysis the thin dipole. So at first the on the base of the deep study on method of moments, this dissertation analyses the problem of the mutual coupling of the thin dipole antenna arrays. And the paper makes an introduction of basic theory of antenna arrays. Because Super-directive arrays can supply better directive performance than the general arrays, we analyses the two pattern synthesizes that is the Schelkunoff unit-circle method and the Chebyshev-Dolph super-directive synthesis method of the line arrays in detail. On the base of the analysis of the Super-directive arrays, discussed the effect of mutual coupling to Super-directive arrays. Compared with the effect of mutual coupling to general antenna arrays, Chebyshev-Dolph antenna arrays, Schelkunoff Super-derective arrays and Chebyshev-Dolph Super-derective.The paper discusses the amplitude-phase consistency in uniformly-space antenna arrays, and given a new way to make use of the mutual coupling to obtain the pattern that we need. Finally, on base of analysis of amplitude-phase consistency, given a method to compensate the the amplitude and phase of the input to approach the ideal pattern.
