As a technology of three-dimensional storage, volume holographic storage is different from traditional two-dimensional storage. It has unique dominance in storage capability, speed of data transferring and so on. Recent years, with the development of storage materials and components of storage system, researches on volume holographic storage have made a great progress.First of all, theory of holographic storage is described and studied in the article and some commonly used storage-ray roads are comparatively analyzed,such as 90-degree path and transmission path. It analyzes the fixing capability of the crystals by experiments of thermal fixing. Design and found the real volume storage system based on the theory. After that, it makes in-depth researches on multiplexed technology of storage system and develops the optimization program that is easy to achieve, namely, the method of using double-lens which have same focus. This method doesn't need beam deflection device and can change the reference beam incidence angle with mechanical movement platform only. And the accuracy of system is not getting lower. So the whole system can become smaller, cheaper and more easily controlling with the method. The feasibility of the new method has been proved by experiments of storing and rebuilding holographic images.Researches focus on the identification technology of joint transform correlator after building the volume holographic storage system. It analyzes the relationship between position of related export signals and position of import images. And it gives the condition that related export signals separates from zero-level flare. At last, the whole system is designed and built. In response to the actual problems encountered by the use of system, it takes digital image processing methods to process the images of joint power spectra and improves the image quality of related export signals.Comparing with technology of matching filter, joint transform correlator has many merits. It can identify the targets very quickly and accurately. So this technology should have extensive application prospect in target tracing.
