The problem of structural health has been recently attracting much attention because of more and more calamities in engineering applications and normal lives around us. So Structural Health Motoring becomes a popular research spot in the field of engineering and academe. As a basic part of the motoring system, the sensor becomes one of the most important parts in a system. Fiber Bragg grating strain sensor is a new sensor that is developing rapidly in recent years. The extensive interest has been produced because of attractive application of the new sensor in health inspection of large complex structures, such as aviatic space implements, oceanic flat, many-floor builds, and large-span bridges. However, at the present stage of development, the technology based on FBG sensor for practical application is still far away from full-blown. The Health Monitoring in engineering desires for high quality systemized FBG sensor , however ,the study and development of sensors possessing characteristics such as high precision,large measurement scope,good stability,long longevity,low cost and able to achieve distributed measurement is of great scientific and economic significance .This paper developed several FBG sensors based on the smart sensing properties of the fiber and grating. The main research done and achievement include:1) Both temperature and strain sensing properties of FBG are analyzed in this paper. And the temperature compensation method is studied either,2) We advanced the concept that the sensitivity of FBG packed sensors can beincreasing (descended) and gave the theoretic illation of this concept. Based on the corresponding research, we developed the sensitivityincreasing (descended) embedded FBG sensors that are suitable for the measurement of inner stain of concrete. And the experiment of these two type sensors validated the rationality and practicability.3) A kind of FBG sensor that suits the temperature measurement in high voltage environment is developed. It can effectively monitor the temperature change of electric equipment and warn in advance and in time so that engineering accident can be prevented.
