Holographic display is a much active branch in laser holography areas, it is considered an ideal 3-D display because it can exhibit the deeps and parallax the same as real objects. It is impossible to realize dynamic and real-time display for typically optical holography where there are two independence courses of optical holographic recording and optical holographic display. Optical holography needs high coherent and high intensity source, very stable optical system and needs films as a recording medium, thus limits their applied area especially in dynamic display.Along with the rapid development of the electronic computer technology and computing technology, they combined with holography and thus produced computer generated hologram and digital holography one after another. Computer generated hologram uses computer to generate hologram, it does not require the object's real exist but need mathematic description of object wave to input into computer to process, to render hologram and then reconstructs with optical method. This thesis addresses fundamental principle of optical holography, computer simulation and reconstruction of Fresnel and Fourier hologram, applies fractional Fourier transform and presents simulation and reconstruction result of single-lens fractional Fourier transform hologram. This thesis loads computer generated hologram to spatial light modulator to modulate incident light directly and reconstructs object's images with self-build holographic display system.A core component in holographic display system design is a spatial light modulator. It must choose spatial light modulator according to holographic technical requirements. This thesis uses digital micromirror device(DMD) as a spatial light modulator. DMD is a patent production of Texas Instruments Corporate(TI) of America. It is a latest research production in micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS) that developed in recent years. Comparing with familiar LCD spatial light modulator, DMD has higher light energy utility, more grayscale and greater pixel resolution, and it is more suitable for holographic display. This thesis studies the...
