To realize efficient solution of electromagnetic (EM) scattering from complex target has very practical value for the design of radar systems and identification of radar targets. The efficiency of EM scattering from complex target includes two meaning. The first meaning is: It can realize accurate simulation under the available computer source condition. The numerical results have relatively high accuracy and can agree with the measurement. The second meaning is: It can realize relatively fast analysis and computation based on the above condition. Hence, it is the important goal of scattering research to find a rigorous, efficient and accurate method.The Characteristic Basis Function Method (CBFM), one of the high order moment of method(MOM) to solve scattering of complex target is introduced. This method need less unknowns, less computer memory requirement and better error convergence rate compared with low-order MOM, and maintain the virtue of high accuracy. A method for efficient generation of MOM matrices based on equivalent dipole is also discussed. We combine these two methods. The proposed combined method can save time and enhance efficiency. The numerical results of some benchmark targets such cylinder, cone, missile model are given in this paper, they agree very well with the measurements or the results from general MOM. These numerical results prove the validity and high accuracy of the proposed method.
