With the rapid development of information technology and network technology, the picture information database of huge, different contents is appearing constantly. And the picture resources especially on Internet, are doubling and redoubling constantly. The digital picture becomes one of the media forms used extensively in teaching and education with the characteristic of its ocular , vivid and image. Under this background , researching and developing the search engine of the educational picture to use educational picture resources more effectively, promote construction of educational resources and promote the education informatization process have realistic meaning and value. This paper analyzes the theory and practise from color characteristic and relevant feedback angle systematicly under the educational picture resource search engine frame.Firstly, This paper summarizes the current situation of educational picture retrieval, and discussing development of picture retrieval technique to explain the full meaning of Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) technique applying to educational resources search; and describes a relatively intact framework of education picture resource retrieval system. on this basis, the paper makes analysis to the key technology based on the color and relevant feedback, including color space choosing, characteristic vector quantize, characteristic express, similar degree calculate, right value matrix adjustment; secondly, this paper presents a spatial color indexing approach using the dominant colors of multi-resolution partitions; Finally , compares the quality of several kinds of search methods by analyzing the experimental data, and the results shows that the the approach proposed in the paper enhanced the effectiveness of retrieval.This paper just applies CBIR technique to educational resources retrieval tentatively, attempting to offer a new scheme and make a try to the construction and search of multimedia resources in education.
