Distributed Virtual Environment (DVE) system has greatly progressed in both theory and application fields due to the development of computer science, network technology as well as virtual reality technology. In most applications, the DVE system is realized with replication-based method. However, there is a major problem in such systems. That is, how to maintain the state consistency among the sites of the system. In the traditional consistency control schemes, the system's operation set is regarded as a single processing object, which can't flexibly perform the desired operations because of the big granularity, and consequently has a negative effect on the system performance and interaction experience. Therefore, further studies on the consistency control to improve the system performance as well as the interaction experience become a focus of the researchers. In this paper, several contributions are made to the consistency control technology in the DVE system, including:1. A general study on the consistency problem in DVE system. A summarization on the replicated system is given, and the essential concepts of this kind of systems are briefly investigated. Sequentially, the principles of the traditional consistency control technologies are summarized, and their advantages and disadvantages are compared.2. Influence model is proposed. It is well-known that the object entity has different influence on the virtual environment in the DVE system. In this paper, the key factors that decide the object entity's influence are analyzed, and an influence model of object entity is proposed to evaluate the extent influence of the object entity.3. A new dynamic lag strategy. Based on the relativity between the object entities and the operation sets, the whole system operation set is fractionized into several subsets. Each subset shares the same extent influence of the object entity. Using the evaluation result obtained by the influence model, the operation lag value of the subset associated with the object entity can be adjusted dynamically. In new strategy, the operation lag of the object entity with bigger effectiveness value but less negative influence to the system's...
