With the development and population of mobile communications, the conflict between the growth of the user and resource constraints have become increasingly prominent. How to improve the current channel efficiency have become one of the key topics of mobile communications development. The so-called "Channel Assignment" is a channel sharing technology which is adopted in microcell mobile communications.lt uses the most effective way of utilizing channels to provides users in one cell with best channel and highest possible quality of service in the case of multi-channel sharing. In general, channel assignment is called CAP—Channel Assignment Problem. This paper is to discuss the issue with handoff and channel assignment performance simulation. At first, we will classify and analyse algorithms of existing variety of handoff of mobile communications system.Through the analysis of these algorithms, we can understand the status of users who are suffering handoff, as well as handoff methodology used to protect the handoff users against cutoff. It also lays the foundation and gives theoretical guidance for next channel assignment strategies to assure the preferential communication request of handoff users.Secondly, the paper analyses the traditional channel allocation strategies, then propose four new channel assignment strategies based on assuring the preferential communication request of handoff users: channel reserved strategy, direction borrowing and channel lock strategy, direction borrowing and not lock strategy, two-dimensional dynamic channel multiplexing...
