The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is a new signaling, presence and instant messaging protocol developed to set up, modify, and tear down multimedia sessions, request and deliver presence and instant messages over the Internet. Existing Internet telephony client-server architecture based on SIP or H.323 typically employ a registration server for domain. The user agents of the users in the domain register their IP addresses with the server so that the other users can reach them. Scalability and reliability of such server-based systems are achieved using traditional redundancy and failover methods such as DNS, IP address takeover, MAC address takeover or application layer switches .The majority of the system cost is in maintenance and configuration ,typically by a dedicated system administrator in the domain. It also means that quickly setting up the system in a small environment is not easy. We can see as SIP based voice over IP (VOIP) systems have increased in popularity, situations have emerged where centralized servers are either inconvenient or undesirable. On the other hand, P2P systems are inherently scalable and reliable because of the lack of a single point failure. All participants are peers and communicate in distributed, potentially untrusted environment, to achieve a certain objective such as locating music files or users. And then we consider about the problem of combining the P2P and SIP technology to achieve some production. Because both the SIP C/S architecture and P2P architecture need registration and location process. We analyze using P2P architecture to implement SIP function and overcome some faults of the C/S architecture. Here we mainly do some work in using P2P overlay to implement SIP registration and resource location .As we know as long as location is finished the session is established. Then location is an important step in SIP function. And the anterior step of resource location is registration and we also extend this scheme to resolve other problems in enterprise such as load balancing etc, at last we also discuss some existing problem of such system.
