| With the development of the database technology, information systems are going to deal with many new applications which need more and more temporal information disposal. The technology of temporal information disposal has become an important technology in many new databases and information systems. Temporal databases store and manage different time-state data, taking time as one of the data attributes managed by system. Within the past twenty years, researches of temporal database have acquired great achievements. However, there is no complete temporal database management system yet by now.In the paper, the authors propose that the research of temporal database management methods can not be separated from the existing database and its major development. This paper analyses 4 common methods for the temporal database management system, and introduce temporal middleware technology in detail. This paper also analyses the basic principle and systematic structure of temporal middleware, and transforms ATSQL2 to standard SQL. According to the theory of temporal database, this paper proposes a new approach of realizing temporal disposal by communicating between a temporal disposal middleware, and non-temporal DBMS. The temporal middleware component is on top of a conventional DBMS, by using the interface offered by it, temporal SQL could be translated into standard SQL that could be run by non-temporal DBMS in order to realize a DBMS that can dispose temporal data and several temporal databases. All these work provides basis for future implementation of temporal database and also accumulates the technologies and experience of the temporal middleware development. |
