With the fast progress of UAV (Unmanned Air Vehicle), there is a growing interest in more compact and more cost-effective synthetic aperture radar(SAR) for these new spy platforms. SAR based on pulsed radar technology is unfit for UAV because of its complexity and weightiness. Frequency modulated continuous wave synthetic aperture radar (FM-CW SAR) can be miniaturized, and it is fit for light-duty flight platform wonderfully. This paper deduces the theoretical signal model of FM-CW SAR and the basal. FM-CW SAR delivers and processes the signal in the frequency domain so special signal processing structure is established. Furthermore, we give the imaging flow on non-ideal condition. According to the signal model, this paper simulates the echo of FM-CW SAR. The raw data of static single target is figured out, and then it is processed by the basic algorithm and we get the SAR image of it. From that the processing algorithm can be verified. The raw data of moving single target is figured out, and we analysis the influences target's movement imposes on the SAR image. According to the echo structure of FM-CW SAR, a fast algorithm for echo simulation of distributed targets based on FFT is presented, reducing the computation significantly comparing with one by one point superposition. Based on the fast algorithm, echo from multi-aperture is simulated. The last section sums up the contents of the thesis, and points out the questions which should be resolved in the future.
