Polymer optical fiber (POF) has drawn great attentions as high speed transmission media. Co-extrusion and diffusion process for preparation of graded index polymer optical fiber is a new method. In this paper, co-extrusion and diffusion process for preparation of GI POF was studied in order to determine relationship between technical and structural parameters and refractive index distribution profile of GI POF as well as an optimal parameter unit which made refractive index distribution profile of GI POF closest to ideal one.Finally, based on the mathematical model and experiment research, co-extrusion and diffusion process technical and structural parameters were respectively optimized by orthogonal tests. For estimating aforesaid simulated results rationally and conveniently, a judging standard which could roundly differentiate the refractive index distribution profile of simulated optical fiber from that of ideal one was put forward.
