Because the compromising emanations of information technology equipment may cause security risk of information being processed on them. The phenomena has attracted more and more people attention. This paper does research on this problem.This research can be divided into five parts. Firstly, the paper introduces the background and actuality of electromagnetic information leakage and its developing trend. Secondly, the paper studies electromagnetic information leakage mechanism on the basis of electromagnetic radiation. In Chapter 2, the possibility of electromagnetic information leakage which existed in the electromagnetic radiation can be proved by the analysis of electromagnetic radiation of computer configuration. In Chapter 3, electromagnetic information leakage mechanism of electron beam in cathode ray tube (CRT) of computer video display unit (VDU) is analyzed as a special example. The third part is studied in interception system. The fourth part introduces some protecting measures against information leakage, such as low radiation technology and spurious ways. At last, the paper gives a summary of the above and points out some problems and ideas for further research.A number of works in the dissertation are outlined as folio wings:1. the background of computer information leakage, its actuality and developing trend in America, West Europe and China are introduced to put forward the importance of this research.2. We analyze some theory knowledge about electromagnetic radiation, including the radiation of electric dipole and magnetic dipole, and prove the possibility of electromagnetic information leakage which existed in the electromagnetic radiation. Meanwhile, we use the spectrum analyzer to measure the power spectrum density of floppy, hard disk, keyboard and display, and analyze the data of experiment.3. Analyzing the imaging principle and physic configuration of computer video display, and then we study the electromagnetic information leakage mechanism of electron beam in cathode ray tube (CRT) of computer video display unit (VDU) and find why this kind of display can cause compromising emanations?4. According to some articles which are about electromagnetic information leakage, A novel digital interception system is assembled and employed in eavesdropping on computer video display unit (VDU) successfully.5. we introduce some protecting measures against electromagnetic information leakage by radiating On the basis of theories above including low radiation techno-...
