Environment monitoring instruments are essential to identify the safety of goods, food, environmental conditions, etc. However, the distribution of these instruments geographically brought difficulty to data collection and instrument maintenance. To solve this problem, the tenth"five-year project"of the Ministry of Science and Technology in China was launched. This program focused on how to build a networked control and management software system for the distributed environment monitoring instruments with robust expansibility. Three types of environment analysis instruments: T6, PORS-15, and TW-6000 manufactured by PGeneral Corp. Ltd. of China were included as research samples.Having done a thorough research on theories and technologies of .NET Framework and XML Web Service, the thesis designed an"improved client-server"architecture model. Based on this model, the software systems of both clients'and the server's were designed. The networked management system for distributed environment monitoring instruments was developed. In addition, the application of GIS and GPS technologies in the distributed network system was discussed.1. The architecture is a critical issue in software systems to achieve expansibility. The famous client-server architecture did not do well in solving problems on the"bottle neck of database"and"system expansibility". The .NET Framework technologies, including the distributed computing, XML, components, and Just-In-Time(JIT), while avoiding the from basic APIs programming mode, provided more convenient methods to solve object-oriented problems such as to optimize the codes and to ease the distribution of the software systems. The XML Web Service technologies, on the other hand, provided a data accessing mode by employing the .NET Framework, with advantages in allocating resources of the server and the database dynamically, and pass network proxies effectively. This thesis solved the"bottle neck of database"issue with the support of these technologies. The software system in the server was responsible for control information...
