With the development of mobile communication and date communication, and the requirement of people for information continuously increased, people hope to combine with them together more and more urgently, so, Mobile IPv6 will become foundation stone of mobile communication in the future.Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 is a technology that improved on Mobile IPv6, it partitionnetwork into many layers by importing a new network element------Mobile AnchorPoint(MAP), make mobile divide into two types------Macro Mobility and Micro Mobility, so,the rate of loss packet and the delay of transmission in mobile process were decreased and the QoS of communication in Mobile IPv6 was improved.Based on the analysis of HMIPv6 protocols, some shortcomings and limitations had been expatiated in this paper, the considerable factors for MAP discovery protocol from mobile speed, mobile network track and choice policy of Mobile Node and administrative region and preference of MAP were analyzed. A thought that the characters of Mobile Node and MAP should all be taking into account in selecting MAP was brought forward, the initiative of Mobile Node for selecting MAP was emphasized. Therefore the MAP discovery protocol was expanded and improved, a new AR option and a new reverse AR option had been imported, and their work process and the implementation process of this protocol on Linux system were also described. Following this, a new MAP selection algorithm was put forward and it's implementation was also expatiated, a part of some code was given. With this method, the performance of HMIPv6 was improved.To make HMIPv6 system realization well, the module and it's function of HMIPv6 system was expounded in this paper and described some important module in detail, these provide a theoretic guidance for the realization of HMIPv6 system.At last, the process of building a HMIPv6 network combining with our college's laboratorial HMIPv6 platform was described, and a configure guide for this laboratorial platform was provided.
