The wireless local area network (WLAN) is widely applied in recent years. Its development depends on the application of modern wireless communication technology in computer network. However, with its development there are increasingly prominent issues of information security which are serious obstacle to its wider application. Therefore it is of practical significance to solve the information security problem in WLAN.ISO recently approved the IEEE 802.11i protocol as an international standard which is used to improve the information security level in WLAN. This protocol uses TLS protocol in which the RSA public key algorithm and digital signature algorithm are recommended, but they are not suitable for mobile communication terminals whose computing resources are limited. The merits of NTRU public key cryptosystem, including reasonably easily created keys, high speed for encryption or decryption and low resource requirements, make it very suitable for protecting the information security in the mobile communication where the terminals have limited computing resources and require rapidly processing encryption and decryption data. This thesis proposes to apply NTRU algorithm in mobile communication terminals to protect information security in WLAN, in order to solve the problem that the recommended encryption and decryption algorithms in TLS protocol are not suitable for the mobile communication terminals. For this, the thesis has done some work as follows:1) Implemented NTRU public key algorithm on J2ME platform, acquired the experimentation data such as key creating time, encryption time and decryption time, and proved that it is of immense superiority to use NTRU algorithm to protect the information security in WLAN.
