The Study On Intelligent Agent Application In Office Automation System

Since the first domestic Office Automation (OA) programming conference held in 1985, the applications of OA have been developed rapidly and maturelyto provide an important means for enterprises or organizations to carry out paper-free work and improve their efficiency. Now the widely used OA systems in every walk of life have been reducing the relevant resources remarkably and thus playing an important role in our construction of information society. Despite the more and more popular and mature applications of OA systems, such malpractice and risks in OA handling work procedure as heavy repeated or trivial and prone to be omitted work should be eliminated. Additionally, the rapid development of modern information society which features network and intelligence has brought a challenge for current OA systems, thus some research on intelligent OA becomes an urgent and meaningful job.As an emerging approach of distributed artificial intelligence, the intelligent agent technology is believed to provide a new method for the modeling, analysis and control of a category of systems which are chronically, spaciously or functionally distributed. The intelligent agent technology may be widely deployed, especially in the distributive and cooperative environment. As a research of Office Automation to be intelligent, the paper attempts to apply the intelligent agent method to Office Automation systems by putting forward a multi-agent model named "Intelligent Secretary". After expatiating on its function, framework and internal communication mechanism, an instance of its application in the office automation system of Chengdu railway bureau is given and its operational effect is highly appraised. In the end, the paper discusses the extendibility of "intelligent secretary "model and the development trend of intelligent agent technology.
