| With proliferation of Internet applications, networking becomes more and more popular and present earnest challenges to network administrators and maintenance engineers in interconnection issues among indoor devices as well as in remote control of them from outside.XDSL, as one of the most popular broadband access means for home networking, presents serious problems in terminal distribution, configuration, maintenance , diagnosis, and upgrading considering its wide-spread users. Consequently, automation in installation and maintenance has become a top issue for XDSL service providers to cope with requirements of ever-growing market.TR-069 is a management protocol at the WAN side proposed by the DSL forum in 2005, which provides an auto-configuration capability with a standardized protocol. UPnP proposed by Microsoft Corporation, on the other hand, provides similar functions but through home-LAN. As the two sets of protocols are more or less similar in standardization, "seamless" convergence of them to realize remote auto-configuration with "zero on-side operation" is comparatively easy.This dissertation first gives an comprehensive description of the state of the art concerning remote management and configuration for XDSL, within China and outside, followed by an introduction to operation principle of the TR-069 Protocol stack and the UPnP Protocol.An emphasis in this dissertation has been given to realization mechanisms of TR-069 including those of TR-069 protocol-stack, TR-069 APP and TR-069DB modules.Finally, a discussion on how "seamless" convergence between TR-069 and UPnP and an "end-to-end" auto-configuration and management are realized in author's work.As a result of the author's work, auto configuration, maintenance, and system upgrading from office center are enabled and operation costs are reduced. |
